Sorry

Everyone says that I have not be very good at keeping up with my blog. I'll try to start today and write at least once a month.

So as you can see from the picture we have been busy this last week. Aaron and Monique and family were here for a week. All the grandkids got to go to Jumping Jacks. Then we met at Aaron's favorite place to eat In and Out Burgers. The next day we took them the the dinosaur foot print park. I think that Aaron, Monique and grandpa got more out it than the kids. Maybe when they get a little older they'll enjoy it more. Grandpa went on a couple of hikes with Aaron's family'

I had to go to Vegas for a meeting on Tuesday and once again I ended up in a room with a double jaccuzi bathtub and Ken at home.

We are looking forward to seeing Alex and Gayle next week.

I'll try to post again after they go home.

Stallions

Yesterday we took Kennedy to see the Lipizzaner Stallions perform. I told Kennedy that we were going to see dancing horses. She didn't believe. After the performance, she said that I was right the horses did dance. We were all impressed with the horses and their riders.

We were thinking that next year we would like to go the circus in Salt Lake as a family. Most the grandkids will be old enough to appreciate it. Be thinking about it.

Surgery and other horrible things.

Last Friday I had surgery on my shoulder. When I set up for this surgery the doc said I should be able to go back to work on Monday. (I was really happy that Monday was a holiday and I didn't have any appointments on Tuesday and wished that I didn' have anything for the rest of the week). I did not have a torn rotator cuff. He removed the bursa which looked horrible. I also had several bone spurs removed. He also found that part of the collar bone was pushing into the socket and took part of that off.

I have spent most of the week sleeping in the rocking chair. The cats thought that I was there to play. So I would wake up with a cat chewing on my toes or sleeping on my chest. The worst (woke me up fast) was the cat who walked across my shoulder at 3 in the morning.

I went in yesterday and had the stitches removed. The PA asked if I wanted to do Physical therapy. I asked if I really needed it and got "absolutely yes". Apparently my range of motion isn't very good. So Monday I start that for 2-3 times a week. The hardest for me is that I can't drive for at least 2-3 weeks. That also means that Dad can't go on his annual camping trip. He is ok with it, but I feel bad.

I also have to change the way I get my equipment in and out of my offices. Up till now I've always tried to do it in one trip, which put 30-40 pounds of equipment in my left hand.(Now we know why the shoulder went out.) Now I'll have to make 2 trips. Luckly, none of the offices are very far from the parking lot.

I am really glad that I have another week before we go to Idaho for the baby blessing. I hope Dad gets some good rest as he will be doing all the driving.

Nashville

I have been trying to post a few pictures with this post, but I must be doing something wrong. So words will have to do for now.

We arived in Nashville Saturday afternoon, too late and too tired to do much of anything. This hotel has 2881 rooms divided into sections by enclosed atriums filled with exoctic plants, orchids, waterfalls, fountains, and streams. No matter where you had to be it was the furthest from our room.

Sunday morning there were LDS services with Elder Dahlquist presiding and speaking. They had young men from the locale stake bless and pass the sacrament. There were more than 500 in attendance. That was quite a treat.

Dad went to the afternoon opening meeting and we both went to the opening dinner. The entertainment was a young up and coming country and western singer. While we waited for the doors to open we saw Garth Brooks talking to people in the crowds. We aren't really into C&W so didn't talk to him.

On Monday Dad had meetings all day, so I rented a car and drove to Paducah KY to see the Quilt museum. These quilts are grand prize winners from the last 10 year. Most of them are considered art quilts. There was a double wedding ring quilt that was about the size of a piece of paper. It almost makes me want to stop quilting. (Aaron said he likes my quilts cause they are useable).

Tuesday was more classes for Dad and a spouse's brunch for me. The speaker wrote the birth order book and was quite funny. That night closed with another banquet.

Wednesday morning we had to get up at 3:30 (2:30 here) to catch the shuttle to the airport and then home.

Weird summer things

This summer I decided that I wanted to learn something new, so I took up knitting. So far, I've finished a sweater (for me and it fits), two pair of booties (for guess who?). one hat (owner to be determined) and one sock (2nd almost finished). Last night Kennedy saw my sock and wanted to know when her's would be done. McCall tried it on and looked a lot like a clown.

Paul and family were doing fireworks last night. Paul got his right thumb in the way and ended up in the emergency room. His right thumb was badly blistered and might have a small patch of 3rd degree burn. The docs took off some the broken skin and gave him meds and wrapped it. He'll have to wait to see if he has to go the wound clinic while the burn heals.

Dad has one more week of camp. Then on Saturday, we leave for Nashville TN. Naturally we will be there when the temperatures and the humidity match. Most of what we will be doing will be indoors. On Monday, Dad will be in meetings all day, so I am renting a car and going to Paducha Kentucky. They have the biggest quilt museum in America. We will be back on Wednesday the 6th. Then back to work.

Trip and so on

We were able to go to Idaho to see our new granddaughter over 4th of July weekend. We didn't have nearly enough time with Aaron and family or Teresa and family. It was a fast trip with dad having to be back as camp by Sunday afternoon. The grandkids are growing so fast.

I have been having trouble with my left shoulder. It has gotten so painful. After having cortisone shots that failed, the doctor decided that surgery is in order. It will be arthoscopy with a possible rotator cuff repair. It is set for the Friday before Labor Day. That may change if we go back to Idaho. Take care everyone.
